The cancer epigenome-components and functional correlates
Article Abstract:
The correlation between the epigenetic mechanisms and the earliest phases of tumor development and is discussed along with the links between stem cell chromatin control and the vulnerability of genes to be epigenetically altered during tumorigenesis. The reversal of tumor-associated silencing of tumor suppressor genes is being treated for cancer treatment and prevention strategies.

Lung premalignancy induced by mutant B-Raf, what is thy fate? To senesce or not to senesce, that is the question
Article Abstract:
A study demonstrates that mutationally activated B-Raf could act as the initiating event for lung tumorigenesis and establish B-Raf as oncoprotein. The findings show that inhibition of the Mek kinase could prevent [B-Raf.sup.V600E] tumors from ever developing and provide strong evidence that B-Raf is signaling through Mek to promote tumorigenesis.

The Myc-dependent angiogenic switch in tumors is mediated by interleukin 1Beta
Article Abstract:
A reversibly switchable mouse transgenic model of Myc-dependent Beta-cell carcinogenesis is used to delineate the kinetics and causal sequence of angingenic processes following acute Myc activation. It is shown that the onset of endothelial cell proliferation is induced shortly after Myc-induced cell cycle entry of beta cells.
