The doubly phosphorylated form of HPr, HPr(Ser-P)(His~P), is abundant in exponentially growing cells of Streptococcus thermophilus and phosphorylates the Lactose transporter LacS as efficiently as HPr(His~P)
Article Abstract:
HPr(Ser-P)(His~P) is abundant in exponentially growing Streptococcus thermophilus cells and the doubly phosphorylated form of HPr represented 75% and 25% of the total HPr in S. thermophilus ATCC 19258 and S. thermophilus SMQ-301, respectively. The result has indicated that the reversible phosphorylation of IIA domain of LacS in S. thermophilus was accomplished by HPr(Ser-P)(His~P) and HPr(His~P).

Morphological and genetic diversity of temperature phages in Clostridium difficile
Article Abstract:
Eight temperature phages are characterized after mitomycin C induction of six Clostridium difficile isolates, corresponding to six distinct PCR ribotypes. The screening for genes encoding toxins and toxin regulators in the PaLoc has failed to identify homologous genes in the genomes of these phages.

Development of quantitative real-time PCR assays for detection and quantification of surrogate biological warfare agents in building debris and leachate
Article Abstract:
A study is conducted to develop and validate SYBR green quantitative real time PCR (Q-PCR) assays for the specific detection and quantification of surrogate biological warfare (BW) agents in synthetic building debris (SBD) and leachate. The developed Q-PCR assays are highly specific and sensitive.
