The enigma of HIV infection
Article Abstract:
The most significant aspect of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) research is the creation of vaccines or suitable therapies. The latest development in the field of vaccines is insufficient and but the growing proof of the competence of the human T cell-mediated immune response creates a new hope. The new drugs which are being tested, mainly protease inhibitors, work very well until the virus figures out a way to deal with them. Combined drug therapy may make some headway in this area.

NF-kappaB activation: The IkappaB kinase revealed?
Article Abstract:
NF-kappaB, a transcriptional activator was described as a protein bound to specific DNA sites of the immuno-globulin kappa light chain gene. NF-kappaB was initially thought to be lymphoid-specific, but in cells other than mature B cells it is sequestered by inhibitory proteins (IkappaBs). The discovery of the IKKalpha and IKKbeta kinases is a major step in efforts to understand NF-kappaB regulation.

Mammalian Ryk is a Wnt coreceptor required for stimulation of neurite outgrowth
Article Abstract:
The Ryk receptor belongs to the atypical receptor tyrosine kinase family, which is a part of the Wnt receptor proteins. The mammalian Ryk unlike the Drosophila Ryk homolog Derailed, functions as a coreceptor along with Frizzled for Wnt ligands.
