Robust QTL effect estimation using the minimum distance method
Article Abstract:
Robust quantitative trait loci (QTL) effect estimation and use of the minimum distance (MD) method are discussed. Robustness has not been well covered in QTL studies. Use of maximum likelihood (ML) and use of MD methods are compared where data contamination comes from outliers. Estimates found using MD were far more robust than those found using ML, especially with selective genotyping and relative to scale parameter estimates. A Monte Carlo MD method is proposed to deal with genotypes that are missing.

Natural selection and genetic differentiation of behaviour between parasitoids from wild and cultivated habitats
Article Abstract:
Natural selection and genetic differentiation of behavior in parasitoids is discussed based on study of parasitoid wasps from both wild and cultivated habitats. Genetic differentiation of behavior was seen between the wasps from the two habitats. No evidence of local adaptation to either habitat was found.
