The evolving role of microRNAs in animal gene expression
Article Abstract:
The expression of predicted targets and their cognate microRNAs (miRNAs) was extensively analyzed in mammals and Drosophila, by assessing the global impact of animal miRNAs on gene regulation. It was observed that miRNA pathway broadly contributes to the complex gene regulatory networks that shape animal tissue development and identity.

The genetic of Drosophila transgenics
Article Abstract:
In Drosophila, the genetic approach is still the method of choice for answering fundamental questions on cell biology, signal transduction, development, physiology and behavior. The genetic approach is itself polymorphous, encompassing new and more complex techniques that typically employ the growing collections of transgenes.

Intercalary heterochromatin and genetic silencing
Article Abstract:
The characteristics of classic heterochromatin regions are considered and compared with intercalary heterochromatin (IH). In polytene chromosomes of Drosophila, IH is represented by a reproducible set of dense bands scattered along the euchromatic arms.
