The matured eye of Xenopus laevis tadpoles produces factors that elicit a lens-forming response in embryonic ectoderm
Article Abstract:
The process of formation of embryonic lens in Xenopus laevis tadpoles is associated with transdifferentiation of the tadpole cornea at the time of 'lens regeneration.' But the inductive impact of the matured tadpole eyeis qualitatively different from that of the early part of embryonic lens induction. The intense inductive effect of the matured eye is possibly associated to that which takes place through the optic vesicle during the subsequent phase of embryonic lens induction.
