Timing of cranial pneumatization in White-throated Sparrows
Article Abstract:
The hypothesized correlation of cranial pneumatization to age, nutritional status and ultimately to success in dominance, was tested in White-throated Sparrows (Zonotrichia albicollis). Differences were seen in the timing of pneumatization among individuals in different years. However, no correlation was found between timing of pneumatization and dominance. These results indicate that the understanding of the relationships among pneumatization, age from hatching date and success in dominance remain uncertain.

Patterns of dominance and aggressive behavior in Blue Jays at a feeder
Article Abstract:
A study on the patterns of dominance and aggressive behavior in Blue Jays at a feeder was conducted to examine the influence of sex, time of year and body size on dominance and aggression. Furthermore, the study aims to describe changes in dominance among Blue Jays over time and examine the presence of linear dominance hierarchies. Results show that dominance hierarchies were not linear and changed overt time. This comes as a result of flock instability.

Plumage brightness and breeding-season dominance in the House Finch: a negatively correlated handicap?
Article Abstract:
Research concerning the importance of brightness of plumage in male House Finches as a factor in female selection is presented. During the non-breeding season, drab males dominate bright males.
