Trophoblast and hypoblast in the monotreme, marsupial and eutherian mammals: Evolution and origins
Article Abstract:
The conceptuses of eutherian, marsupial and monotreme mammals despite the apparent gross difference in early development strategy and form show some remarkable similarities in the lineage allocation to the trophoblast and hypoblast and in the emergent properties of the two cell type. The gross difference could be explained by two relatively small evolutionary timing changes affecting cell adhesion patterns and the polarisation of developmentally significant information.

Endosymbiotic origins of sex
Article Abstract:
An endosymbiotic model for the evolutionary origins of sex is described. The hypothesis regarding the descend of contemporary life cycle of germline cells from the lifecycle of the endosymbiotic ancestor of the mitochondrian is tested.
