Unbalanced alternative splicing and its significance in cancer
Article Abstract:
Alternative splicing is the process whereby identical pre-mRNA molecules are spliced in different ways, and this is a fundamental mechanism in differential gene expression. The splicing factor that recognize complex splicing signals in pre-mRNA include the consecutive splicing machinery of 100-200 proteins that overlap with many essential but redundant alternative splicing factors.

Getting from an RNA world to modern cells just gat a little easier
Article Abstract:
The idea of an RNA world is central to understanding of life on earth, and the key point is well understood, with RNA viruses and viroids demonstrating that RNA can act as genetic material, and the discovery of ribozymes demonstrating RNA can act as a biological catalyst. It is considered likely that an RNA world preceded the advent of DNA and proteins.

Edit, cut and paste in the nicotinic acetycholine receptor gene family of Drosophila melanogaster
Article Abstract:
Nicotinic acetycholine receptors (nAChRs) are important for fast synaptic cholinergic transmission. Three-dimensional models constructed for insect nAChRs, which show that variations introduced by alternative splicing and RNA editing, influence receptor function, are presented.
