Zeocin resistance suppresses mutation in hypermutable Escherichia coli
Article Abstract:
The authors discuss the studies on the use of random mutations, introduced into genes cloned into bacterial vectors, in bioengineering. The topics of interest include the importance of hypermutable bacteria for these purposes and commercial availability of Escherichia coli strain containing mutS, mutT and mutD mutations.

Mutations in the beta subunit of the Bacillus subtilis RNA polymerase that confer both rifampicin resistance and hypersensitivity to NusG
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on antibiotic rifampicin. The authors report the isolation and characterization of rifampicin resistance mutants of Bacillus subtilis, and demonstrate that two of these mutants are RNA polymerase mutants which demonstrate sensitivity to NusG.

Molecular analysis of mutS expression and mutation in natural isolates of pathogenic Escherichia coli
Article Abstract:
Research has been conducted on methyl-direct mismatch repair deficiencies. The authors have investigated the molecular basis for these deficiencies via the study of wild-type Escherichia coli isolates, and they discuss the results.
