The role of existing knowledge in new product innovativeness and performance
Article Abstract:
A structural equation modeling is used to examine the role of existing knowledge in new product performance and innovativeness. The subprocesses of knowledge building is examined by evaluating the influence of shared interpretation and two aspects of information acquisition that is efficiency and degree of innovativeness of newly acquired information on new product development (NPD) outcomes.

A survey of senior managers who are members of the American Production & Inventory Control Society found that supplier assessment, just-in-time and quality management efforts affect new product design and development. The study applied a structural equation model to analyze how these techniques affect new product development.
