Australian Securities & Investments Commission has recommended certain consumer protection measures in reverse mortgage transactions. Implications of these recommendations for lenders and borrowers are discussed. Borrowers under this category of loans are generally retirees, who mortgage their homes for their spending requirements.

Planners or scammers?

The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) produced a report that damned financial planners as a group obsessed with earning high commissions and unable or unwilling to deal with the real needs of their clients. The validity of this scathing report on the services of financial planners is investigated.
