ASX watches new instrument

The future trends of the equity derivatives market are presented. The trading activity in the Australian Stock Exchange has also been increasing every month. This boom has brought in overseas traders who have introduced a new type of derivative instrument, the contract for difference (CFD). But ASX on the other hand has no concerns about the coming of a private equity derivative market.

A review of the performance of the pooled funds for the year 2003-04 is presented. The top-performing fund was Invesco's Wholesale Growth Trust, which delivered a return of 19.3% in the 12 months up to June 2004.
