The Australian subsidiary of the US advertising agency TMP Worldwide was created when TMP acquired Neville Jeffress Holdings in Jul 1997. There are rumors that many clients defected from Neville Jeffress after the acquisition, rumors that CEO Karen MacPherson says are false. She defends the reorganization of the agency on the grounds that Neville Jeffress was too conservative and unimaginative.

Under stress, Hyundai dumps its agency

Sydney, Australia-based Hyundai Automotive Distributors fired its advertising agency of seven years, DDB Needham, in May 1998. Hyundai claims it needs a new advertising approach, DDB Needham claims the company needs higher Australian sales. Hyundai Australia pays for its autos with US dollars rather than Korean won so the increase in the US dollar caused an increase in auto prices.
