Many mid-tier companies in mining sector are now in the list of top 150 companies, having exceeded the threshold market value of $1 billion . Mining industry in Australia is also witnessing a surge in consolidation, which is creating an illusion that the country is losing its resources sector. The fact is the bigger companies are expanding after mergers and acquisition and the smaller companies are increasing their market share to come up. Its only the number of companies that are dwindling but the sector remains robust as ever.
