UAL holds talks to buy America West
Article Abstract:
United Airline's parent company, UAL Corp., might purchase Phoenix-based America West Holdings Corp. Now that American Airlines bought Reno Air, it is felt that United needs the Western market that America West would provide. Such an acquisition would also provide United, the country's largest airline, with more aircraft that it will need for its expansion at Dulles Airport in Washington. America West's Boeing and Airbus planes and manageable number of pilots, 1,500, would be easy for United to work with, also.
Comment:
Might be bought by UAL Corp.
