Linked to Apple but trying to branch out
Article Abstract:
Software companies that have been closely aligned with Apple have generally suffered during Apple's decline, but those that are diversifying their product lines to operate across multiple platforms promise to restore profitability. Companies such as Adobe Systems, MetaTools and Macromedia are renowned for their Apple-related multimedia software titles, but each company is progressing in its efforts to expand its applicability, and investors are generally optimistic about their chances for recovery. Global Village Communication is particularly susceptible to associative damage from a continued Apple decline, with at least 80% of the company's revenues coming from the sale of Apple-related products. However, if Apple's 3rd qtr 1996 profit is an accurate indication, companies that are aligned with Apple may also enjoy a fiscal turnaround.

Net's a natural for fantasy baseball
Article Abstract:
Fantasy gaming, including baseball, is transitioning easily from the real world to cyberspace. Web sites are using real-world results of professional baseball, and of basketball, football, hockey and golf, to generate fantasy results online, and a survey by Cyber Dialogue reveals that 34% of adults who use the Internet play some type of game. Web sites such as CBS Sportsline (sportsline.com) and ESPN's Sports Zone (espn.com) are available, and Small World Sports (baseball.smallworld.com), which is free, is especially noteworthy for its widespread popularity. ESPN and Sportsline, which cost $19.95 per team to play, are online online renditions of Rotisserie-style fantasy leagues.
