Bad form by the client? Or by an agency? It's a matter of perspective as Budget ends its review
Article Abstract:
The rapidity of account changes in today's ad market often creates disputes and misunderstandings between ad agencies and their clients. Budget Rent-a-Car Corp., which recently reviewed its creative ad account, has awarded its account to Cliff Freeman and Partners of New York. Incumbent agency Publicis and Hal Riney of Chicago said Budget executives had told the agency it would be kept on. Fallon McElligott of Minneapolis, MN, a finalist in the review, said it withdrew from consideration because Budget executives named it the 'preferred' choice. Cliff Freeman said it was unaware of either dispute.

Wieden & Kennedy pursues Miller from New York
Article Abstract:
Wieden & Kennedy already does the creative work on Miller Genuine Draft and Miller High Life beer brands, but that is from its Portland office. Now the ad agency wants to pitch the Miller Lite account from its New York office; a way of showing the brewing company that Portland will stay focused on MGD and MHL. The current agency for Miller Lite, Fallon McElligott, will also pitch to keep the account. Miller Brewing Co. will make its decision in January. Two additional agencies are part of the review. The account is worth about $150 million.
