One of Australia's most effective media strategists and the executive chairman of the Ten Network, Nick Falloon, believe that a media shake-up is inevitable and it would be helpful for the whole industry. The present media-ownership rules is believed to limit operators to one commercial television station, commercial radio station or daily newspaper in the same license area.

Tax office gets tough

The Australian Taxation Office (ATO) began a detailed audit program of 700 self-managed super funds (SMSFs) to find whether the funds are complying with superannuation legislation. ATO Auditors found that 20 percent of funds are ignored by basic investments and prudential rules.
