MANY PENSION PLANS ARE NOT PROVIDING FOR THE HIGH INFLATION RATE, AND MANY ANNUITANTS ARE FINDING LITTLE SECURITY FOR THEIR OLD AGE, SO COMPANIES ARE EAGERLY AWAITING THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE GOVERNMENT'S COMMISSION ON PENSION POLICY, HEADED BY C. PETER MCCOLOUGH. MANY COMPANIES ARE USING MANY DIFFERENT FORMULAS TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM; HOWEVER COMPLETE INDEXING SEEMS TO BE THE MOST POSITIVE AND MOST COSTLY.

THE SEC HAS WON ITS BATTLE WITH THE BUSINESS WORLD OVER CORPORATE DISCLOSURE. PUBLICLY HELD COMPANIES MUST NOW DETAIL CORPORATE GOVERNANCE AND TOP EXECUTIVE COMPENSATION. THERE ARE FEARS THAT THE NEW RULES WILL MAKE MANAGEMENT TOO CONSERVATIVE.
