Cable TV industry
Article Abstract:
Stocks in the cable television industry have risen in the 4th qtr of 1999, but are still not timely for the year 2000. Broadband access to cable television, higher rates in the industry, and the ability of direct broadcast satellite carriers to provide local cable TV service are some of the changes the industry is likely to see in the coming months. However, these shares are most suitable only for the most aggressive portfolios as they all have significant risks.

Cable TV industry
Article Abstract:
Consolidation continues in the cable TV industry with both AT and T Corp and Comcast Corp bidding for MediaOne Group, and industry revenues are expected to increase as a result. Open access to consumer households is a major industry issue, as is unbundling, and competition is possible, also, from Direct Broadcast Satellite providers. These stocks are best suited for aggressive investors who are able to tolerate fluctuations in share prices.

Cable TV industry
Article Abstract:
Stocks in the cable TV industry have fallen in 1999, and many are trading at considerably lower premiums than earlier in the year due to higher interest rates and other factors. Possible cable ownership limitation rules, slower merger activity, and the open access issue have also lessened enthusiasm for these stocks, as well. These stocks are not timely for 1999 and the year 2000, and investors need to be selective in their choices.
