Clinton acts on military ban on homosexuals: President gives ground to opponents

Clinton announced on Jan 29, 1993, his policy on ending the ban on gays in the military. The policy calls for a six-month period during which the military may transfer openly gay personnel from active duty to reserve status. At the end of the six months, the ban on homosexuals will be fully lifted.
