Article Abstract:
At the 1999 Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles, California, much of the talk was about the unfavorable publicity generated in the wake of the massacre at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colorado, and its possible impact on the industry. Sega introduced their new Dreamcast game console, which includes Windows CE software that enables Web-surfing. Nintendo's next console will run on IBM's 400 mghz Power PC chip and will use DVD's instead of game cartridges. Sony's Playstation 2 made a big splash with graphics similar to those in the film. 'Toy Story.' Bass fishing and snow-boarding inspired new games and console products. The oddest game was by Mind's Eye, called 'Sheep.' In it, players have to successfully herd sheep through sixteen game levels. The algorithm for modeling flock behaviour gives the game a very realistic feel.
