The IRS is auditing a large number of firms in an effort to penalize businesses which misclassify independent contract workers. Small businesses are particularly vulnerable because they often hire temporary or part-time staff. Employers say the rules are confusing and misleading.

A new approach to small purchases

A new 'purchasing card' service is available that allows companies the same convenience consumers have when using credit cards. Purchasing departments can use the card for many of their needs and just pay for them with one check, saving a lot of time and expense.
