Coopers comes up with the right export brew

Coopers Brewery claims it is the largest manufacturer of home brewing kits in the world. The company exports its kits to the UK, the US, China, Canada, Japan, Scandinavia and Italy. Its largest market is North America but growth is flat at 5% per year. Growth is 15%-20% in Japan because it is a new product there. The company obtains 65% of its export sales from the home brew kits.

Furniture makers show value of joint efforts

Australia's furniture manufacturers are beginning to team up to enter difficult export markets such as Japan. Developing industry-wide networks enables manufacturers to share joint marketing expenses, storage facilities and resources, and supplement each other's product lines. Network members also act as information sources, sharing data with others on different markets.

North Slope poses a threat to NW shelf
Article Abstract:
North-West Shelf's plans to double its LNG exports has been challenged by the proposal of Alaska's North Slope to target the Japanese market. The economic crisis in Japan also raises questions about the viability of that market. It is likely that the Japanese power companies will favor the North Slope project for strategic reasons.
