Corporations speak positively about CMA

Interest in the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) program is increasing as corporations recognize the value of the CMA certification. New York-based NYNEX Corp is among the growing number of companies that consider the CMA designation as being essential to the professional development of their financial employees. As part of the firm's Financial Management Growth Program, representatives from the Institute of Management Accountants delivered a presentation intended to help program members gain a better understanding of the Institute and of the benefits CMA certification can offer. NYNEX Corp's appreciation of the CMA program is shared by a number of other major companies, including Boeing Co and Dow Chemical Co. The companies listed as CMA Corporate Sponsors now number 138.

Survey illustrates corporate support for CMA program
Article Abstract:
A survey being conducted by the Institute of Management Accountants under its Certified Management Accountant Corporate Sponsorship Program shows the extent of commitment extended by corporate sponsors. The survey shows that there are presently 120 companies that are CMA Corporate Sponsors. CMA sponsorship is in the form of employees paid leave for 87% of respondent companies, with 79% of respondents providing exam fee reimbursements and 39% providing travelling and test site expense reimbursements. Company support of review programs is also high with 73% of companies providing reimbursements of review costs, 48% providing employees with review packages, and 13% of companies providing review courses within their own premises.

Ernie Huband, CMA
Article Abstract:
Institute of Management Accountants ex-Pres and Chmn Ernie Huband was recently presented with the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certificate after passing the grueling CMA examination. Hubard, who is an MBA graduate, a CPA, and a Chartered Bank Auditor, need not have taken the examination but did so to demonstrate his commitment to continued professional improvement. Hubard enjoins all management accountants to take the CMA examination to assess their skills in the field and renew their knowledge of techniques learned in school. CMA certification attests to the expertise of management accountants in their profession.
