Cyberspace develops a sense of taste
Article Abstract:
The Internet offers a variety of sites dedicated to food and wine, but the offerings vary in quality and depth. In 1994, a search of the Internet for the word 'culinary' returned no results, but a 1995 search found some 800 sites. The sites allow users to exchange recipes, shop for food and kitchen products and chat with master chefs. Experts believe the presentation of food-related information on the Internet is still in its infancy, in part because the Internet itself is still growing, but some professional, sophisticated sites are available. The Starchefs site offers personal information on well-known chefs, as well as information on classes and a culinary career, special events and hunger relief organizations. There are numerous excellent electronic magazines dedicated to food, and the commercial online services sponsor sites dedicated to restaurant guides, food and related topics.
