Deal-making could put the squeeze on reform

The effects of Australia's planned tax reform is uncertain, but some predict that small businesses, individual investors and farmers will benefit. The Democrat and Labor Parties are fighting to ensure the Ralph reforms are revenue neutral, which may result in tighter tax measures. A cashflow accounting tax system and other anti-avoidance measures, should they become effective, will strongly impact corporations.

Tax reform waits for a final round of bargaining
Article Abstract:
The Australian Senate will pass tax reform legislation but there are issues concerning the extent of reductions in the capital gains tax and the gains in revenues from business taxes. Much bargaining is expected to take place among the political parties.
