Deposit insurance merger proposed
Article Abstract:
A merger of the Savings Assn. Insurance Fund (SAIF) and the Bank Insurance Fund is being planned by Treasury Dept. officials. The SAIF is the federal fund that insures accounts at savings and loan associations while the Bank Insurance Fund insures accounts at commercial banks.

Provider Insurance

An outside agency can determine insurance rates satisfactory to providers and consumers. Provider insurance protects consumers against product or service failure or liability. The determined rate will cause both providers and consumers to reduce losses.

'Super utility' merger approved

Norweb PLC agreed to a UK$1.83 billion takeover bid by North West Water Group PLC on Oct 11, 1995, and on Nov 2, 1995, the acquisition was approved by UK authorities. Norweb rejected previous offers made by Texas Energy Partners and other utilities.
