Development perspectives, firm strategies and applications in mobile commerce
Article Abstract:
The driving forces for m-commerce, the institutional and functional change of the third-generation (3G) mobile communications value chain and the critical factors and essential characteristics of mobile applications for economic success of 3G m-commerce are analyzed. New players, new services, lower prices for transmission services, increasing revenues with m-commerce and a changing role of mobile network operators are the main characteristics of the 3G mobile environment and the main factors contributing to changes in the 3G mobile environment are also identified.

The system design approach is outlined with the potential to analyze the possibilities and requirements for a system of mobile communication. The different methods used in the early phase of the research and development process leads to an innovative, need-oriented and hence market-oriented product and service concepts for third-generation (3G) mobile applications.

National lead markets and the design competition for 3G network applications
Article Abstract:
Based on the European Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) auctions and other considerations, it is shown that UK and Germany have the potential to become national Icad markets for m-commerce and other applications of 3G even though they were relative laggards in mobile telephony.
