Diversified company industry
Article Abstract:
Investors are discouraged from evaluating diversified companies on a top down basis, since they are not as non-cyclical as once believed. Companies in this industry must be measured on an individual basis. Earnings, cost cutting, and macroeconomics all need to be considered when seeking value. ITT, AlliedSignal, Alco Standard, Kanan, and Triarc are among the stocks that have favorable appeal for long-term investment.

Diversified company industry
Article Abstract:
More diversified companies are trying to generate shareholder value by concentrating on basic goods and services, instead of spinoffs and other financial activities. Notable examples include AlliedSignal, Alco Standard and United Technologies. Investors should choose companies accordingly. Historically, the industry has done well during periods of economic uncertainty.
