Wedge politics have shattered the hopes for a joint union presence at Rio Tinto's iron ore sites in the Pilbara region of Western Australia (WA). The Construction Forestry Mining and Energy Union, the Communications, Electrical and Plumbing Union and the Australian Manufacturing Workers Union are pinning their hopes on the WA Industrial Relations Commission to get them back in the game.
