Don't panic, but do act, says Clinton's year-2000 crisis man

John Koskinen of the National Security Council is Pres Clinton's point man on the Year 2000 transition problem for computers. Some scenarios have the transition from 1999 to 2000 on Jan 1, 2000, which will zero out computer calendars, causing massive disruptions to the national and global economies due to interruptions to the telecommunications, financial and air traffic control systems and power grids, but Koskinen is confident that the transition will be a smooth one due to the efforts of the federal government.
