Dow Chemical forms biotech alliances to bolster firm as a sector competitor
Article Abstract:
Dow Chemical is expected to announce a research and marketing agreement with a California-based biotech-research firm, Biosource Technologies Inc. Analysts have been waiting for Dow to show signs of taking a serious interest in the plants genetics industry, but, until now, the company has been out-dazzled by DuPont and Monsanto. In addition to Biosource, Dow will also set up an arrangement with Illinois Foundation Seeds Inc. whereby a new company, a clearinghouse, will be formed, called Advanced AgriTraits.
