Drug industry
Article Abstract:
Drug companies profited from two major events in 1994. The Food and Drug Administration began to hasten the approval process for new drugs, allowing companies to bring them to market faster and with fewer tests. In addition, the GATT treaty signed in Uruguay gives companies additional patent protection on drugs, allowing greater profit on new drugs. If the newly elected Congress can be convinced to streamline regulations even further, stock prices will certainly see an upward trend in 1995.
