Dynamic benchmarks for operations evaluation using soft computing methods
Article Abstract:
New dynamic benchmarks were established as performance metrics for production operations in the ingot mill of an aluminum smelter. This new kind of high-level performance measure allows systematic and holistic evaluations of operations performance which is not currently possible. The benchmarks also enable changes in performance of each specific resource group to be clearly determined. Fuzzy performance estimates are dynamically updated with particular emphasis on combining the various kinds of uncertainty that exist in the input data.

Development of a prediction model for hospital closure using financial accounting data
Article Abstract:
The US medical system is under strain due to increasing costs and less income. It is predicted that 700 hospitals will have closed from the late 1980's to 1995. Research has suggested that hospitals need to have specific financial models made to predict their funding needs and vulnerability to closure. A study has been done which shows how these models can be constructed.
