Effects of organizational and decision-maker factors on new product risk taking
Article Abstract:
Individual differences and other contextual factors have been shown to influence the risk-taking behavior of managers, as suggested by a survey conducted on business administration students with masteral degree. Managers whose goals are motivated by aspirational reference points tend to prefer projects involving more risks, while those who are closely associated with survival points are likely to perform lesser risk-taking jobs. The availability of financial resources allocated for a particular projects has also been shown to create a significant effect on the risk-taking behavior of managers.
