Electric utility (East) industry
Article Abstract:
The electric utility industry in the Northeastern area of the US has been rapidly deregulated, but the industry has not yet been restructured in other parts of the East. Utility ratepayers and investors should both benefit from asset securitization, and the divestiture of generation will also become a benefit for utility capital structures in the future. However, investments in other business ventures by public utilities is likely to slow dividend growth in the future.

Electric utility (East) industry
Article Abstract:
The most important factor to consider in determining which electric utility stocks to buy is the effect that deregulation will have on individual companies and the industry as a whole. Many small and some large public utilities plan to focus on transmission and distribution services, rather than generation. Those companies, which include CMP Group and Green Mountain Power, should provide steady returns, making their stocks suitable as conservative income vehicles.
