Article Abstract:
Restructuring activity within the electric utilitiy industry is expected to increase in 1999, and competition, stranded cost collectiion, unbundling, and asset securitization are some of the issues that state and local regulators will have to face. Electric utility (east) industry
Article Abstract:
The electric utility industry is making progress in its deregulation efforts on a state basis, but the upcoming elections and the complexity of issues may make passage of federal deregulation difficult in 1998. Falling rates will make support of earnings and dividend growth difficult, and utilities need to manage operating and capital costs. The large and financially sound electric utilities should be the focus of investors in this industry.
