Foreign sales are also becoming important as demand for electronic components is growing in developing areas, and expense control is also benefitting many companies. There are attractive stocks in this industry for investors, as its timeliness rating has increased.

The long-term prospects for the electronics industry remain strong in spite of the inventory buildup in 1996. Product variety, innovation, and intricacy are being created in the industry in response to demand and new needs. The industry is also seeing the need to adapt to innovation, global expansion in Latin America and Asia, and cost reduction. These stocks are not timely in 1997, but several are good investment selections for 1997 and 1998.
