Article Abstract:
A model that links entrepreneurial characteristics and performance of entrepreneurship was constructed. The model draws on research inpsychology, notably from motivation and ability. It also touches on management, economic and entrepreneurship theory. The model emphasizes a connection betweenentrepreneurial characteristics, new venture performance, strategy and industrystructure; the last two variables to be considered as context variables.

Using cognitive theory to explain entrepreneurial risk-taking: challenging conventional wisdom
Article Abstract:
The cognitive theory was used to study the frameworks which distinguish entrepreneurs from others and examine differences in risk-taking. Findings of the study revealed that entrepreneurs did not see themselves as more risk-takers than non-entrepreneurs. However, they seem to cognitively categorize business situations in a positive light. They see opportunities where others see little potential.
