Finance and accounting starting salaries are up
Article Abstract:
The Robert Half and Accountemps Salary Guide reveals that the starting salaries for finance and accounting professionals will increase by an average of 2.3% in 1997. Chief financial officers and treasurers at companies with under $50 million in revenue will receive starting salaries between $62,000 and $88,000 per year, while corporate controllers at companies with $10 million to $50 million in revenue will receive salaries of $54,000 to $71,250. Meanwhile, salaries of cost accountants and general accountants are expected to increase to $30,000. The increasing demand for skilled management accountants and financial managers is behind the raise in their salaries. Other forms of compensation are being offered, including stock options, performance-based bonuses, profit sharing and alternative work schedules.
