Food wholesalers industry
Article Abstract:
Food wholesaling is not a stagnant business, in spite of its economic maturity. Acquisitions within the industry have made companies, such as Fleming and SUPERVALU, more competitive through technology, cost spreading, and a larger sales base to grocery chains. Foodservice distributors like Sysco and Rykoff-Sexton are also consolidating. Food wholesale shares are ranked to outperform the market throughout 1995 to 1998 or 2000.
