Founder's grandsons had the answer but lacked the will to make change
Article Abstract:
The family-owned business Charles Tims went through some bad times after the recession hit at the beginning of the 1990s. The grandsons of the founder, who still ran the business, turned to business consultants for a solution. The owners did not have the will to implement the necessary changes for a turnaround, and managing director Trevor Carrodus and finance director Doug Taylor took over the company through a management buyout. Under new owners, Charles Tims is now profitable.
