Rival magazine editors are unconcerned about the launch of Harper's Bazaar and Mode, a women's magazine created by Australian Consolidated Press and Hearst Corp., despite the new publication's lower ad rates. Media buyers balk at the inclusion of Mode in the name, as Mode failed in 1997 due to low circulation. The editor of the new joint venture is the former editor of Mode.
