U.S. Federal Reserve chairman Alan Greenspan believes that the Asian financial crisis may actually benefit the American economy. With demand growing faster than productivity, the sharemarket may drop and inflation may rise. The crisis may balance the need for labor with worker availability, tightening the labor market and avoiding inflation.
