Home resales rose 5% in July

The National Assoc of Realtors reported that sales of existing homes increased 5% in Jul 1995, reaching a seasonally-adjusted annual rate of 3.99 million units. The West and South posted the greatest gains. The median sales price decreased from $116,200 to $115,900 from Jun to Jul, 1995.

The number of existing homes sold rose 5.8% in Mar 1995, for an annual rate of 3.62 million units, but the figures fall short of Mar 1994 figures. Homes in the Midwest accounted for 12.5% of the figure, and the median sale price was $107,000. Other economic statistics are examined.

Home resales rose 6.5% in February
Article Abstract:
Falling mortgage rates caused home resales to increase 6.5% in volume between Jan and Feb 1996, especially in the West and South regions. Housing starts also rose 3% for the same time period. Orders for machine tools declined while business inventories increased.
