Hotel/gaming industry
Article Abstract:
Hotel and gaming stocks have not done well in 1998 with renovations and new construction adding to the supply of available rooms in the lodging sector and volatility in the casino gambling segment. Consolidation is increasing among casinos, as well, due to a number of factors, but Atlantic City, NJ, and Las Vegas, NV, remain industry centers. These stocks are not timely, but risk-tolerant, long-term investors could find some issues appealing.

Hotel/gaming industry
Article Abstract:
Stock prices for the hotel and gaming industry have declined in 1998, but recent elections in several states will help some casinos. Many believe that earnings and stock price growth will best be aided by expansion, especially in Las Vegas, NV, and merger and spinoff activity has increased in the industry, as well. These stocks are not timely in late 1998, but several are attractive for some investors.
