Ginnies: The Opportunity No One Was Looking For
Article Abstract:
Fixed income investments thrive when inflation rates are low. The futures contracts of the Government National Mortgage Association (GNMA or Ginnie Mae) were one example of the successes in the fixed income market in 1983. Many pension fund accounts held Ginnie Mae futures. The Ginnie Mae collateralized depository receipts (CDRs) produced an eleven and one-half to twelve per cent return for those who held them in 1983. The Ginnie Mae CDRs still seem to be undervalued and investors are now there to take advantage of them.
