Investment company (income) industry
Article Abstract:
Uncertainty over whether the Federal Reserve will tighten short-term interest rates in May, 1997 for the second time in a year, and whether there will be additional interest rate increases has affected the fixed income investment companies, even though they had included an anticipated increase when they priced bonds. Resultingly, investors must use caution in making closed-end bond fund commitments and in further investment in high yield bonds where the gap between price and yield has narrowed.

Investment company (income) industry
Article Abstract:
The bonds bull market has hit some obstacles. Inflation is not expected to increase but long-term interest rates will probably change. Investors should be careful about the timing of their investments. Closed-end bond funds should only be purchased when wide level discounts are available. Bad economic times are better for bond markets than good ones.
